$44 MILLION New school building with health clinic. 81,000 SF six-story middle and high school building, containing a health clinic and administrative office space. The building design comprises 21 classrooms as well as music and art rooms, science labs, a cafeteria and gymnasium. The narrow plot and the sloping grade allow for a separation between the school and the clinic, with entrances on opposite sides of the block. Site logistics in the tight urban site were managed through good logistics planning: using the existing space efficiently was an important part of project success and job site safety. Andron managed building “skin” elements with a high degree of focus and success – again contributing to overall project success. Andron developed good relations with the surrounding neighbors and community. January 2013 ANDRON SERVICES General Contractor PHOTOS ©Brennan Photo

$50 MILLION Capital expansion to Public School 79, a turn-of-the-century building. Major renovations to the building, including expansion and reconfiguration of existing spaces, plus a new 65,000 SF addition tightly situated behind the existing building. Logistics for material storage and execution of the work had to be mitigated to accommodate the extremely tight work site. Offsite storage facilities were utilized for window and material storage. Additionally, unsuitable subsurface conditions were discovered upon excavation. Emphasis was given to the foundation construction and steel erection to complete these high-risk activities by the end of the second summer recess to minimize exposure to the student and teacher population. Andron engaged a structural engineer to provide a suitable design to stabilize the bearing substrate under the existing building. August 2010 ANDRON SERVICES General Contractor PHOTOS ©Vanni Archives

$29 MILLION Pleasantville Union Free School District. 94,000 SF new construction on a steep site shared with the existing and occupied elementary school. The new school includes a full size gymnasium, theater, and exterior play area with an artificial turf field. Unusual soil conditions were discovered at the deepest point of the new foundation, which required reengineering of the design and rescheduling of the project. Complex issues were addressed and solved during the construction, resulting in a successful, on-time opening of the school.
